The Tower of Babel
This publication is a deconstruction of the biblical story, 'The Tower of Babel'. The story is broken down and reproduced to make reading a more enjoyable experience for children; expressing the narrative through the typography and production values of the book.
The story being about confusion of languages and miscommunication; I designed the book so that it becomes more and more difficult to read as the narrative progresses. All the type was positioned by hand, then scanned in to create a rough and sandy effect. Positioning the type by hand also allowed me to be more creative and free with the expressiveness of the text.
Printed on 50gsm bible paper, hand-bound with 18/3 thread.
